Monday, 25 April 2011

Hello everyone. I'm sorry I haven't done a post in a few days. Here in Australia we've had a five day long weekend for Easter & Anzac day. It's been good to have so many days off but today has been really boring! I was so bored I put some make up on and took a quick picture. Sad, I know. I personally think I look a little odd with my hair up in photos but I honestly could not be bothered doing it, plus buns are so much more comfortable, I wear a messy bun about 90% of the time even if I do look weird.

In other news, we now have 21 followers. Thank you all! We are looking around for some things to put into a giveaway for you girlies. I hope you all enter once it's up and running. Also, if you have anything you would specifically like to see in the giveaway, leave us a comment and we'll see what we can do.

Dermalogica Ultracalming Range

So I wanted to do a little review/show and tell of some sample products I got from my beautician after I got a deep cleaning facial and general skin check up. I'm not going to lie I don't have perfect skin, in fact I have redness, dryness and pimples and I always end up getting them along my jaw and neck. So I decided it was time I had someone who knew what they were talking about check it out. My skin has been quite dry lately and with winter coming soon I know it will only get worse. The beautician told me the face wash I was using was stripping my skin of all the good oils and that's why it has been so dry and flaky. So after a good hour of extractions face massages, face creams etc. I was given some Dermalogica samples to take home and try, I can safely say my skin feels fantastic even after a few days of using it.

So these are all the samples I received (I did have more but I have already used them all and please excuse my horrible photo taking I just moved house and I couldn't find anywhere to take nice pictures and my camera wouldn't focus properly)

So this is the 'Precleanse' it's basically an oil  made from nuts and seeds that you rub on your face to remove all your makeup and dirt etc off before actually cleaning. I found that it works quite well I will admit I didn't love the oily  feeling on my face but I get that with my makeup remover anyway. I followed the precleanse up with the 'Ultracalming Cleanser' which is a gel/cream that is super gentle and can be taken off with a tissue or warm water. I absolutely loved the cleanser, like seriously it was the best feeling when I got out of the shower and my skin felt not so so clean it was dry it felt clean but still soft. I wish I hadn't used all the samples of it so quickly ha ha.
This is my other favourite it's called 'Barrier Repair' it's like a thick gel that you put on to moisturise your face it feels really cool, it doesn't make your face all oily it makes it feel sort of matte and not like you have a heavy layer of oily moisturiser on your face. I really liked this product, I am going to buy a bigger tube.
I got this 'Ex foliating Body Scrub' I used it an did like it but it's probably something I'd only use every so often because I'd rather just use some body wash and some ex foliating gloves.
I also got some 'Body Hydrating Cream' which I should have used by now but I am always in a rush and forget to moisturise my body, probably the reason for my skin being itchy and dry a lot in winter.
This is the last thing I got and yes, I did have it upside down without realizing but I only took one shot of it. I was told I should wait to use this after I'd finished all my other products to see how my skin was going. So I'll let you know how I go with it. Out of all the products I liked the Ultracalming Cleanser and the Barrier Repair so they are probably the two products I am going to invest in, although they are very pricey so I might have to save some money before I can afford to get them. Why are the best products always so expensive?! But seriously I am literally loving these products and I'm so glad I got to sample them, I'd hate to spend $80 on face wash and end up hating it. I can already notice a difference in my skin and it isn't all flaky and dry around my nose where it usually is.
Sorry for the enormously long post, I tried shortening it but it wouldn't be a real review then would it?
Has anyone else used Dermalogica before? What did you think about it?
P.S I have had a twitter for a while but never really used it other than to see what celebrities are up to, I have now started to use it and will be tweeting on there. I would love some people to follow other than celebrities so leave me your twitter link or follow me and I'll follow back.

Style Icon #2

This weeks style icon has been popping up everywhere in the magazines I read. She has been wearing some really great things that I see in the magazines and go "ooh that looks good" or "I'd like to wear that" so it was only right that she be this weeks style icon.
Emma Roberts

1. Emma in a nude dress with those amazing silver pumps, I really love the way the fabric sort of sits and waves on this dress and I love love love the shoes.
2. In Chanel, this is probably one of my favourites she looks classy but the feathers still make it young and fresh, I don't think I need to mention my love of those shoes again.
3. I love the bow on the top with the shorts it almost look like a tux, the satin pumps also look great.
4. That blazer is seriously amazing, it's clearly bold enough to be the statement piece and she didn't go overboard with something outrageous on the bottom she kept it very simple.
5. This is probably my favourite look out of all the outfits I've seen her in, this is one of the outfits where I would just look at and think that is great. Those heels are so amazing and the thigh highs and denim really work with them. I seriously wish I could pull off this look but my legs are nothing like hers, I guess we can dream can't we?

I'm hoping to see Emma in some more great outfits, she has definitely been inspiring me lately.
Who is your Style Icon?

I adore this colour! It's a cross between a minty green and aqua although it's coming out a lot more blue in the picture than it really is. I have never seen another colour like it. It is "Sweetpea" by Australis.

Do you like this colour? Would you wear it?

P.s. We have also confirmed we will be doing a little giveaway at 20 followers and a bigger one at 50 so please help us get there, yay :)

Friday, 15 April 2011

So this is my very first outfit post, these photos are quite old but I love this outfit so much, I kind of miss just having brown hair instead of my ombre which I have now. I love these little floral shorts so much and this pull over is seriously the comfiest thing, I can see myself wearing it a lot in winter.
Here is a close up of my outfit, I made this headband myself and by just buying flowers and then I just added the gold chain. I absolutely love wearing it and I've made a few of these headbands for friends.

1. Pull Over Shirt - General Pants Co
2.Floral Shorts - Sportsgirl
3. Mushroom Knee High Socks - Dotti
4. Shoes - Doc Martens
5. Headband  - DIY by me
6. Sunglasses - Cheap cosmetics store
7. Lipstick - M.A.C Snob

What trends are you loving this winter if you're from Australia?

My M.A.C lipsticks

Hello! These are just the M.A.C lipsticks I own at the moment, I will be continually adding to my little collection as there are already so many others on my want list including; Hue, Rebel, Ruby Woo and Shy Girl to name a few.
Here are mine...

From L to R; Of Royalty (LE), Snob, Pink Nouveau, Ravishing, M.A.C Red.
I'd have to say Snob is my absolute favourite; I think it looks nice on fair to medium skin tones.
As you can probably tell I like the creamier type finishes, I'm not a big fan of frosted or shimmery lipsticks.
I can't wait to get a few more. I am also eyeing off a couple of Chanel lipsticks that look really lovely.
Anyway, I hope you like this. Let me know what you think of these colours and what your favourite M.A.C lipstick is!

Style Icon #1

I have decided also that I am going to do a weekly celebrity style icon. It will be someone who has been wearing stuff that I like and always looks good (what celebrity doesn't though). This person will be someone who is rocking whatever I like this week and so on.
I've decided to start with someone who's style I've been digging a lot lately,
Kate Bosworth.

So I think I went a little bit crazy but she has so many good outfits.
Starting top left going clockwise
1. Calvin Klein dress she wore at Fashion Week 2011, it looks so effortless and chic something she is really good at.
2. In Burberry, this is one of my favourites.
3. Jill Sander skirt, for someone who is so tiny looking I have no actual idea of her height she really pulls off the maxi skirt. Love.
4. Her casual looks are great too, she's carrying the Proenza Schouler Satchel
5. The amazing Chloe boots.
6. Another casual outfit, she always looks effortlessly cool.
7. This is probably my favourite outfit, I like that it's a little bit biker.
8. Last but not least Kate in a bright red skirt, she pulls off the bright with the nude sweater so well.

So there it is, my first Style Icon of the week, I know I went a little bit crazy with photos but trust me there was a lot more I could have chosen. These eight photos sum up why she is my Style Icon of the week.
