Make Up For Ever HD Foundation review.

I'm back! Finally I can settle back into blogging regularly. I have recently moved into my house that I bought with my boyfriend. We haven't had any internet since we moved in, hence the no blogging.

Anyway, today I have a review (as the title says) on the Make Up For Ever HD Foundation.

I bought this while I was in America at the end of 2010 from Sephora. I was matched with the colour "117 Marble" - the 4th lightest shade. Once I left the store, it actually looked to be a little too dark for my pale skin which is why I never really gave it a chance. I did use it a few times and didn't particularly like it - I felt like it didn't enough coverage as I usually wear full coverage foundations and I still felt it was a little too dark for my skin tone.

A year on, it was still sitting in my makeup collection so I decided to give it another chance because everyone always raves about how amazing this foundation is - that's the whole reason I bought it in the first place. To my surprise I loved it! It seems to match my complexion perfectly. I have taken a few photos (see below) to show you what it looks like on my skin.

Note: the photos of my skin/face are UN-EDITED - my worst nightmare! haha.

Also note: I am wearing a little bit of MAC MSF Natural over the top as I was getting ready for the day and only decided to take the pictures after I had done my powder - no concealer was used at all.

"HD Invisible Cover Foundation
What it is:
An oil-free medium-to-full-coverage liquid foundation that covers skin imperfections flawlessly while remaining invisible on-screen and in real life.

What it does:
This long-wearing foundation creates a soft-focus effect, which is designed to meet the coverage concerns of those in the spotlight. It leaves your complexion with such a flawless finish, it can withstand bright or harsh lighting."

The above quotes were taken directly off the Sephora website.

I would say this foundation is a medium coverage although it feels quite light on the skin. I am used to wearing more full coverage foundations like Revlon Colorstay. This MUFE foundation definitely feels a lot nicer on my skin for everyday wear.
I wouldn't say it is "invisible" but as you can tell by the photos, it really does do an amazing job at concealing flaws without looking like you are wearing a lot of makeup.

I also love the packaging of this foundation, I'm always a fan of a foundation that comes with a pump!

The only con I have noticed is if I have been touching my face or for some reason been resting my hand on my chin/side of my face while sitting at my desk (I don't do that consciously) it does come off easily.

All in all, this foundation is very good and I would recommend it to anyone with any skin type.

Have you tried this foundation? If so, do you think it's as great as I do?

Review: Kate Moss for Rimmel London

So if you know me well enough you know I'm an avid lipstick wearer and much prefer a lipstick over a lipgloss. This Christmas I was lucky enough to get some of the Kate Moss Rimmel lipsticks from my lovely boyfriend (who managed to get my favourite shades). I got four of the colours and I was so exited when I unwrapped the gift. I got two shades of red, an orange and also a dark purple all of which I absolutely love.

I wanted to share my thoughts on these lipsticks for other lipstick lovers out there, these are a must have. The stand out of these lipsticks was the formula they're all really creamy and leave a really nice satin finish which didn't dry out my lips even after prolonged wear. The lasting power of these lipsticks is also really good especially for a 'drugstore' brand. I found I only had to re apply in minor spots a few times during the night when I wore the purple one. As for the range of shades they have nine to choose from ranging from dark berries to nude. I'm quite pleased with the shades I received and they do have a really good colour payoff. One coat in some of these is plenty, but if you like more they're easily buildable without going cakey. I'm also in love with the packaging it's so sleek and minimal, but the signature in red makes it look much more classy.

Pros:
  • Great colour range - nice and bright
  • Decent price of $12 - 15 AUD
  • Really Pigmented
  • Lasting finish
  • Creamy satin finish
  • Sleek packaging
  • Buildable colour
  • Easy enough to remove
  • Scent is really fruity/candyish
Cons:
  • As you can see from the photos you don't get too much product in the tube (I've only ever worn each of them once at most so far)
I give this lipstick a solid 8 out of 10, and I wouldn't definitely buy a lot more given the chance and when I run out of my favourite shades.

Below are some tips and must have items for a lipstick wearer!

1. Paw Paw Ointment, 2. Lush Lip Scrubs, 3. Cotton Tips, 4. Lipstick (duh!)
I find it's best even if you don't have noticeable dry patches to always exfoliate your lips before using lipstick no matter what the formula. I love using the lush ones because they smell really nice and taste like sugar. I have the Bubblegum and the Pow Wow, I much prefer the Bubblegum as Lush hasn't quite perfected the formula of the Pow Wow as the top of mine when I opened it was rock hard. So after you exfoliate you will want to sink some moisture into your lips I use Paw Paw Ointment but you can use any chap stick or lip balm that works for you. The next step is to apply lipstick you can use a brush and liner if you need but I never have any to match the shades of lipstick I own (I need to get some) but I usually just apply straight from the tube and use the cotton tips to fix up anywhere where you may have gone outside the lines of your lips.

I hope you all enjoyed this review and my tips for wearing lipstick! I'm off to Sydney tomorrow to see A A Bondy at the Sydney festival and Megan and I will probably take some OOTD to put up here when we get back. Hope you're all have a great day!

The Iconic

Hey everyone, I'm so sorry I've be absent on here I have been so busy moving house, and we've had no internet for a while (bad excuses but oh well I'm here now.)

Today I wanted to share a post about a new Australian online shopping site called The Iconic (like we need more temptations right? haha) that has launched in the last couple of months that brings us brands like Bluejuice, Ksubi, Minkpink, Stylestalker, Lonely Hearts, Wildfox and Shakuhachi just to name a few of the many brands they have on offer. The range they have is insane, they have items for all price ranges and tastes from the casual girl to the more fashion forward, they even have clothing for men. I know I've already picked out a couple of  key items I'm going to buy.

Here is a bit of what The Iconic say about themselves:

THE ICONIC is Australia's newest and most exciting online destination for fashion and
foot wear and was launched approximately a month ago. Bringing you an Australian lens on global trends, THE ICONIC will offer the best in men's and women's global fashion and footwear.

WHAT MAKES THE ICONIC UNIQUE?
Guided by fashion expert and former Project Runway Australia judge Sarah Gale, THE
ICONIC will feature regular trend reports, style tips and everything you need to know to
create the best looks. "I'm so excited to be part of this new venture. It's wonderful to be able
to showcase the best Australian talent and international labels on this new platform. Online
retail is definitely the future within this industry," Sarah said.

Pretty cool hey?  I've used the site a couple times and found it really easy to navigate, I really don't like when online stores don't have buttons where you can limit  the search of what you are looking for like size, colour, type etc. So I'm glad they incorporated this in, because it makes for an easier online shopping experience.

Below I've put together some of my favourite items from the store, things I will be getting my hands on in the future.

Woodford & Co, Indian Tank $68.95
Silent Theory, Basic Oversized L/S Tee $39.95
Finders Keepers, Santa Monica Dream Playsuit $99.95
Diavolina, Willie $119.95
Therapy, Jagger Flatform $29.95
Ladakh, Illusionist Romper $69.95
Living Doll, Marrakech Skirt $54.95

These are some of my favourite items from The Iconic, the best part is they do nationwide free shipping, and if you sign up to their mailing list you can get a $10 Voucher to use on the store. You can check out The Iconic Here!

Has anyone ever checked out The Iconic? What are your favourite items?
Let me know what you think of it, talk soon!
