Get the look: Burgundy Lips

So if you've been around the beauty/fashion blogosphere lately you would have seen all the photos from the Met Ball. One thing I noticed amongst all the beautiful gowns was the dark red lips a lot of ladies were wearing and I absolutely love this trend. It's perfect timing for our winter months here in Australia. Here's how to get the burgundy lip!

For the first step you want to make sure your skin is nice and glowy, I mixed an
illuminator with Rimmel's Wake Me Up foundation to get a dewy complexion.
The next thing you'll need to get this look is a nice soft highlight and a winged eyeliner. Keeping it nice and simple so you're not overdoing it with the dark lips. I used Mac's Soft and Gentle highlighter and Loreal's Hip Black Gel Liner. Apply your highlighter to the tops of your cheekbones and then just wing the liner out as much as you like, also apply your favourite mascara.
Now for the fun part, I found it's probably best to line your lips when using such a dark colour so it doesn't run and ruin the look. You can even conceal your lips first if you like to make the colour as bold as possible. I lined all of my lips and filled them in with a Savvy lip pencil - if you're not looking for something too crazy you can just add a gloss over the liner for a more subtle dark lip. I did choose to use a lipstick though as I really like the dark lip. I used a  Maybelline lipstick in the shade Plum Perfect, I've had this for the longest time and I used to wear it a lot last winter. Just apply the lipstick as you normally do and fix up any messy edges with a cotton tip, and you're done!
This is the final look, as I said I like to keep the rest of the face simple, but if you want you can add a blush or darker eyes. I hope you all liked this little how to, even though it's pretty simple.
Let me know what you think of this look!

Do you like the dark lip trend? Who was your favourite from the Met Gala?

Birthday Wish List!

Hey Everyone, hope everyone is doing well. It feels like ages since I've done a post even though it hasn't been that long. I decided to put together a little wish list of things that I wanted for my birthday, to be honest I had a lot of trouble doing this because I'm so indecisive and I don't really want that much. My 19th Birthday is on the 5th May which is next Saturday and I haven't really thought much about what I want to do or anything like that. I laughed when I finished making this wish list because all the items seem to be colour coordinated how strange. I don't really expect to get any of these products but I just wanted to make the wish list anyway.

Items: Marc By Marc Jacobs Earrings, ASOS Cat Eye Sunglasses, ASOS Brogues, Michael Kors Rose Gold Watch, Urban Decay Naked Palette, Curling Iron, Mac Blush in Springsheen

Would you like to receive any of these items?

MAC Naturally - MSF in "Blonde"

Recently I bought the Blonde MSF from the Naturally collection. I had to get my sister that lives in Sydney to buy it for me and post it up to me because it sold out online so quickly - I can tell why.
This mineralized skinfinish is a re-promote from the Brunette, Blonde & Redhead collection in 2009.
It is a really beautiful light pink that graduates into an almost medium toned pink and like all msf's it is quite frosty/shimmery. I saw Ingrid (missglamorazzi) on youtube use this as a blush in one of her videos and it looked great. I was a bit skeptical about using it as a blush on myself but the first time I did, I loved it.

Above is a photo of me (excuse the eyebrows, I'm getting them done tomorrow!) wearing the msf as a blush. It's basically like a glowy pink with the advantage of having a highlight in it so you don't need to use  one. My skin isn't the best at the moment so I find it makes my pores look a bit bigger than usual but I guess most highlighter type products do.

I think this looks really lovely as a blush.

Would you wear this as a blush or keep it as a highlter?

MAC Iris Apfel - Pink Pigeon & Flamingo lipstick

A few weeks ago the MAC Iris Apfel collection was released in Australia. I had seen swatches of this collection before it came out and I really loved the look of these two lipsticks. Seeing as I don't have a MAC store anywhere near me, I bought them as soon as I saw them online. "Pink Pigeon" is a really bright matte pink and "Flamingo" is a bright (but a bit more sheer) orangey/coraly/pink colour and is a lustre finish.

(Pink Pigeon and Flamingo)

I am really happy I got them, I love the colours a lot.

The only thing I don't like about both of these lipsticks is that they kind of stain your lips so when it wears off it leaves a ring of colour around the outside of your lips. I try not to buy lipsticks that do that but really, how could you resist these beautiful colours?

Would you wear either of these or not your cup of tea?
